The Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision has concluded new Memoranda of Cooperation

The Coordination Center for Legal Aid Provision has signed two Memorandas of Cooperation.

The new partners of the organization are the Ukrainian National Bar Association (UNBA) and the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union (UHHRU) within the framework of the PRAVOKATOR legal club project.

Within the framework of cooperation with UNBA it is envisaged to conduct joint actions for the qualification improvement of lawyers. These activities may involve educational and scientific institutions, international, charitable, non-governmental organizations.

Together with the UHHRU, organizations at the level of Kyiv and in the regions (namely, Odessa, Dnipro, Lviv, Kharkiv) will work together to strengthen legal awareness and capacity of citizens.

In addition to advocacy towards States and international organisations, the position entails working closely with Human Rights Houses (HRHs)/partners in the network of Human Rights Houses to develop and implement joint advocacy strategies within the countries where HRHs are located.

The specialized course will include a series of trainings that address issues of security, decentralization, information and financial literacy, the work of government institutions, resource mobilization, the exercise of rights to education, health care, and qualified professionals.

The Legal Aid Coordination Center in partnership with the project “Affordable and Qualitative Legal Aid in Ukraine” announces the second selection of participants of “Training for Trainers” (TT) on “Soft skills development in a work with vulnerable groups of clients of the FLA system”.

The selected participants will have three-day training for trainers. As a result, they will hold a two-day training “Soft skills development in a work with vulnerable groups of clients of the FLA system” in legal clubs PRAVOKATOR   for lawyers and employees of the SFLA centers involved in the provision of legal aid in all regions of Ukraine.

Round Table “Language of Education as an Instrument of Integration into Society” will Take Place in Kyiv

At the event, the results of sociological surveys conducted in the Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia and Odessa regions as a part of the project “Promoting Reforms in the Regions” will be made public. As well as representatives of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting will give their recommendations for educational policy.

Two issues will be discussed during the round table:

  1. Teaching by minority languages ​​in schools is preservation of a national identity or barrier to integration into Ukrainian society?
  2. What are the problems with the implementation of Art. 7 of the Law on Education and the ways of their solution?

The event will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 in the conference hall of the hotel “ALFAVITO-Kyiv” (Kyiv, Predslavinskaya st. 35D) and will last from 10:00 to 12:00. Registration of participants will begin at 09:30.

Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation announces the competition for the selection of expert attorneys which will be involved into an expert-legal analysis of criminal proceedings, in which secondary law aid has been provided by lawyers for free is holding.

You can submit applications by 20.02.2019. The application form consists of a questionnaire, a motivational letter, recommendations (if there were any) and copies of documents confirming the high level of qualification. They should be sent by the organizers’ e-mail (commission.ela@gmail.com). On the basis of this participants for the second stage of the competition will be selected. It will takes place in the format of the interview on February 28, 2019 – March 6, 2019 in Kyiv.

  • to be enrolled (with documentary confirmation) as a student of the selected master’s program of the foreign university and ready to start to study in the fall of 2019;
  • have a clear plan for applying the acquired knowledge and skills in Ukraine;
  • have a firm intention to work in Ukraine on a specialty.

Grants from the Victor Pinchuk Foundation will cover tuition fees at the university, textbooks and health insurance. However, the amount is set on a case-by-case basis.
