On October 24, on the basis of the Yaroslav Mudry National Law University, a regional presentation and discussion of the project “Concept of Legal Education Development in Ukraine” was attended by the representative of the Board of the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine Viktor Yanishen.
Andriy Boyko, Chief Rapporteur, presented the “Concept of Legal Education Development in Ukraine”. During the fruitful discussion of the Concept, the existing problems of higher legal education were identified and possible options for further refinement of the concept. The most interesting issues for us are the legal clinical practice!
The representatives of the clinical movement of Ukraine raised the issue of reforming legal clinics, namely the creation of a new Model Law “On the Law Clinics of Universities”. Deputy Minister of Education, Head of the Department – Roman Grebe, sincerely assured us of the interest and willingness to raise this issue on the agenda of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Very pleasantly surprised by the support of the scientific environment of the best law schools of Ukraine! An illustrative example was that after the end of the event, a survey was conducted on different practices in higher education, and the vast majority of respondents, and these were representatives of advanced law schools, have appreciated the legal clinics as a form of practical training.
Representatives of the Association of Ukrainian Legal Clinics hope to resolve this issue at the highest level and look forward to the implementation of a public promise!
