The Roadmap for the Development of a Legal Clinic
The Roadmap for the Development of a Legal Clinic is a practical guide designed to support the establishment, growth, and long-term sustainability of legal clinics at higher education institutions. Based on the findings of a nationwide study of Ukrainian legal clinics, the document outlines a structured approach to institutional development and identifies key priorities for strengthening clinical legal education.
The Roadmap presents three consecutive stages of legal clinic development: formation, active development, and stability with further growth. For each stage, it offers practical recommendations on governance, educational activities, legal aid provision, partnership building, fundraising, quality assurance, and international cooperation.
Intended for legal clinic managers, university administrators, academic staff, and students, the publication serves as a strategic tool for enhancing institutional capacity, improving access to justice, and fostering a culture of human rights and legal education in the context of Ukraine’s European integration.
This publication is made possible under RWI’s Human Rights Infrastructure for Ukraine (HRIU) Programme (2025–2027) funded by the Swedish government through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), with ALCU as the implementing partner.
