During three days conferention, best lawyers of the country exchanged experience of legal clinics, jointly analyzed and generalized the main tendencies of legal clinical education development in our country. Experts presented their scientific work in two thematic sections: “Legal Clinic as an Innovative Direction for the Development of Legal Education in Ukraine” and “Actual Problems of the Theory and Practice of Application of Sectoral Legislation in the Case of Integration into the European Union”.
In addition, within the framework of the conference, the Association of Legal Clinics of Ukraine held a practical session “Formation of standard quality of activity of legal clinics: strategic plan, monitoring of compliance with the Standards”. It had gathered more than 20 leaders of leading legal clinics from around the country, including Kiev, Bila Tserkva, Dnipro, Kropivnitsky, Lviv, Nikolaev, Odessa, Kharkiv, Severodonetsk, Sumy, Khmelnytsky and other cities.
Among the invited guests at the plenary session an international expert, Professor of the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law Lei Wohrt was present. In his report “Global Clinical Movement”, the scientist emphasized the new world standards and requirements for the accreditation of institutions that prepare professional lawyers.
In addition, the purpose of the meeting is to develop a tool for assessing the standard quality of legal clinics in Ukraine. Special thanks go to Irina Ivankov and Ashot Agoyan, who are not only mentors but also “engines” of the clinical movement for several years now.
